Had first appointment with a physio last week due to lower back pain I told him what I do regarding exercise which was kettlercise classes a couple of times a week 3 spin classes and an abs class he suggested I only do 2 classes a week maybe 1 kettlercise and 1 spin class that doesn't seem enough exercise to me because I'm used to doing more than that some have suggested I do yoga, Pilates or swimming but I like vigorous exercise so my question is surely 2 classes a week is not going to keep my fitness levels up

Don't you need to get the priorities right? Less exercise now might help get rid of the back pain.

Yes sandy makes sense and I will do as I am told for a bit just to see if it eases the back pain but I think what I was trying to get at is would it be worth doing just 2 exercise classes a week I may as well not do any if it's not going to keep my fitness levels up
Two classes a week is two more than most people.
Could you do the two classes but do some less vigorous exercise at home on the other days? The recommended is at least 20 minutes (vigorous) per day to keep up a reasonable level of fitness, an hour (moderate) is better though.

I was going to do more walking although I do walk wherever possible but even that has started to give me pain and twinges in my lower back
I'd listen to what your back is telling you - wouldn't it be better to do less exercise to allow your back muscles to heal and then go back gradually to full exercise? Are you in training for some event?
I agree with the others, just because you exercise it doesn't mean it's the best sort for your back. Seeing a physio (and following the exercise regime he gave me) was the best thing I did for my back)

No islasmum I just enjoy lots of exercise and I'm going to really miss doing it so much but my health must come first I don't want to be crippled because of doing to much in 5/10 years time
