good afternoon folks.

just got back from donating for the 70th time (feel very proud) especially as i have a morbid fear of needles.
the rest of my family did not/do not donate for an assortment of reasons.

it set me wondering ... how many of you good people are blood donors - and what number are you up to?

It was my target to make at least 100 donations, I managed 76 before medical reasons prevented me continuing. Some where in the house I've got a very nice letter from the transfusion service thanking me for my past donations and wishing me the best for the future.

only got to 35 then had to give up as Im now on warfarin.
WELL DONE.
I think that I managed 15 visits before I started on Lithium and they didn't want me any more. It is very worthwhile.

I registered on the bone marrow register though. And they can get all my spare parts when I die.
Can't remember how many times, but all my working life. They won't take it any more - too old - past it - even my blood's no good any more! Boo hoo.
Can't donate anymore, I had so many units given back to me when I was ill 3 yrs ago, they no longer require my services.
:o(
I think I reached 35-40 before going on medication and they wouldn't take it. Well done excesior-1, what blood group are you?
I only went 3 times before they told me not to bother anymore, as they were sick of me fainting............I'm also a very common blood group.

that is very commendable wolf .. something i might look at.

the rest of you, well done for giving when you could - shame you each had to stop.

sibton .. i'm O RH positive
I travel extensively, going to countries on their hit list or having to have jabs on their hit list.

I'm a very slow bleeder and they have had to abandon at least half my donations.

I've given to more than one blood transfusion service and they don't share records so I haven't a clue how many attempts I have made.
Well done, that is very good. I am unable to donate, wish I could.
i go with my dad and hes just done his 50th donation and im only on 5 right now but still it all helps and im on the bone marrow register aswell and they get all my parts when i die aswell

54 now, and the lady when I did my 50th said I'd now better get on and do 100, so better keep plugging away, even though the tea's much worse now (UHT milk, aaah!!).
Am 46 years old, so this may be attainable...
