My husband has always talked in his sleep, and also sings. Over the last couple of years he walks to the fridge (whilst asleep, still!) and drinks milk, water or eats curry. I'm still up and awake whilst he's doing this, he is completely oblivious to his surroundings. Over the past few months, he has taken to fighting in his sleep. Shouting and swearing at his dream enemies, he has started to punch the air, jab pillows with his elbows and worryingly try and cuddle me, where his grip becomes more of a strangle.
It gets to the point where I have to hit him, sometimes quite hard in order to get him off me. He is totally unaware of his actions, but they are starting to worry me.
WHAT CAN I DO? Any hints? I need to stop his violent night-time behaviour
These odd behaviours come under the general term "parasomnias" and are not something that you will be able to improve without professional help. Your GP would be your first port of call. See information here:
Cheers gingejbee, a very helpful link. I can put up with most things, but am worried about getting seriously hurt through his behaviour. Some very good pointers in this link, something for me to start on
