Hey,

I know there a couple of people on here take this medication and wondered if anyone knew how long it takes to kick in? I have been prescribed 25mg twice a day as a starting dose to be reviewed in two weeks time.

Hi DG, how's you? Sorry can't help with the medication.
I am not "one of the couple" ;-)

However do not expect any "spectacular" result for at least 6-8 weeks.

Thank you Sqad, I'm just hoping it's going to work for me, I've heard good things about it.

No worries, just wanted to know you were okay.

Speak (and drink) soon xx
dive.....another important factor is that it is a very low dose that you are taking....it will have to be increased for maximum effect.
On such a small dose I would be surprised to see anything much, even after 6 weeks, which is what I was told it would take to 'kick in' properly.

I am on the max dose of 300mg twice a day,and have been taking it for about 5 years, getting higher and higher annually.

But I suppose it is down to personal circumstances really.

Talk to your Doc if you are worried, and have a look through the info leaflet.

Good luck

Hi divegirl, sorry you haven't been so good lately. I have been on Pregabalin for some time now and it does me a lot of good. It does take some time for it to really show substantial benefits, as they start you off on them slowly. With me I first noticed changes after about 2 weeks, but the full effects didn't kick in until about week 4/5. But, I started out on 50mg three times a day and then they increased this gradually. It is well worth going through the wait for it to be fully effective. Hope you feel better soon! Hugs! xxx

Thank you for your replies and kind words.

I think she started me on such a small dose as I also take Amitriptyline and they can work against each other, so the plan is to reduce the Amitriptyline and then increase the Pregabalin. I always seem to suffer any side effects known to man so would rather be safe than sorry. If I'm not firing mentally on all cylinders so to speak then I can't work [my work is vary fast paced mentally].
If it works for me in the end it'll be worth the wait :0)

I'm on it, 75mg doses. I felt a difference very quickly in a nice floaty almost drunk kind of way, it was really nice, almost like I wasn't that bothered about the pain etc... My head was mashed right after taking it though. That sadly wore off quite quickly.

Rhumo are looking to put mine up but my GP had concerns over some of my kidney results and other meds I'm taking.
