Does anyone know if injections are still given for severe asthma attacks?

Years ago I was given an injection of aminophilline, and at another time a steroid injection. Both worked within minutes. I was hospitalised recently with a severe attack, but apparently these aren't given now.
Intravenous amminophylline was a very popular bronchodilator, but this has been superseded by inhalers of bronchdilators,beta2 agonists and steroids.

However intravenous or intramuscular steroids are still used in the treatment of a severe asthmatic attack.

Many thanks for that info,Sqad. My attacks are invariably severe, a couple of times a year. Next time I'll try insisting on an injection but I don't hold out much hope.
