I was just wondering if you can still become a nurse if you have suffered from depression. I'm asking this cos I was told I couldn't and it's my dream to become one

If you have had depression, been successfully treated, and are now OK, I don't see why not. Many of us have something like this in our personal history. You might have to go through an occy health process to be selected - as many of us do - don't forget to declare it on an application form but I still think you should be OK, it depends how long ago, and which branch of nursing you'd like to study.

Contact the admissions departmetn of your local nursing university, you can but ask them!
PS - why not start off by taking a job as a healthcare assistant, to see if you like it? That doesn't need qualifications at the outset as you are taught on the job. Many HCAs then proceed to nursing training, but it gives you a flavour of working in your chosen area.
Yes, of course you can. I did.
Cannot see why not.
I should clarify, I did two years of nursing diploma and missed my elderly clients and disliked the hospital I was working in. I actually left had another baby and started my own homecare business. I am not a,qualified nurse, but that was my own choice.
yes you can, all applications are done through the clearing house for university entrance, just do waht boxtops suggested earlier, declare it, youll be fine...were all still surviving we need keen blood in the nhs.
