Strange Bite On Leg Isn't Getting Better?

Around 3 weeks ago i started itching around my ankle it was so bad I could have scratched my leg off. on closer inspection I saw a bite -2 small holes like 2 little teeth marks about 1/8th inch wide. since then its been itching constantly. There is no sign of infection such as pus, but now the area around it is getting redder and redder and it feels hot-could this be because I'm scratching it so much? should I be worried or just leave it be? I'm taking daily antihistamine -loratadine (sp) for hay fever but this isn't stopping the itch -any ideas?

I had similar bites some weeks ago and just kept slapping on the TCP - healed up fairly quickly and relieved them too.

Are you a diabetic or taking any medication for any other underlying condition?

I would suggest that you get some Hydrocortisone cream1% and apply three times a day and monitor the situation over the weekend.

Hi Squad, I have no underlying medical conditions I'm quite healthy in fact. No snakes in county durham, at least none where I live but plenty of spiders.....am allergic badly to TCP -have had a tick on my leg years ago , this is not the same. Will try hydrocortisone cream and check back on monday -thanks.x

Two punctures sounds like a spider bite. They can go septic so keep a watch on it.

Sounds like a bite I had a couple of years ago. I ended up at the Doctors with mine and it was just above the ankle bone. They told me it was a spider bite and I had to have it checked every other day and they treated it by applying a special plaster with, I think, Iodine in it. I suggest you go to the Doctors and keep an eye on it in case it causes an ulcer. I was told mine could cause an ulcer but luckily it didn't and I was just fine.
