Tingling/pins And Needles In Fingers

What causes tingling/pins and needles in fingers? I have had it on and off for a couple of weeks, and I haven't been restricting my circulation by sitting on my hands, or anything like that. It's getting on my wick now. Thank you

Carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injury can both cause pins and needles or tingling in the fingers.

Thank you Daffy. Are there any other symptoms to Carpal Tunnel? I don't have aching wrists, or anything. PS It's in both hands.

Numbness or a slight burning sensation in the fingers and palm can be other symptoms Marijn, there can also be pain in the wrists, but not always.

Do you suffer from neck pain, ie cervical spondylosis as this can also cause pins & needles in hands.

I don't have slight burning. I have been going to physiotherapy for my neck as it's been stiff, but getting better. I have been discharged now. She said it was wear and tear i.e. arthritis. PS;I've had the tingling in my fingers for a couple of weeks. I started going to physiotherapy a couple of months ago and was discharged last week. Thank you.

Cervical spondylosis is the term for arthritis in the vertebrae of the neck. It is wear and tear and the tingling in your fingers maybe or maybe not an ongoing problem related to the neck. I assume your physio has given you exercises to carry out at home.

Yes, I do have some exercises to do at home. I'm not sure the tingling is related to the neck pain, as I started the neck pain in September, and it's a lot better now than it was then, and the tingling is a more recent thing. Thank you

did you have any pain, numbness, anything in your fingers when your neck was bad? tingling can sometimes be a sign of pressure reducing on nerves (improvement).

I assume it is both hands.
Carpal tunnel syndrome can effect both hands but not usually.
Also there is pain, particularly at night with carpal tunnel.....you haven't mentioned pain.

My vote goes with the "cervical spondylosis" brigade.

A possible cause of ‘pins & needles’ in the hands and/or feet, is low blood pressure – get it checked, to rule it out.

Thank you everyone. There is no pain, only pins and needles. My physiotherapist said that the x-ray showed wear and tear, which she said was arthritis, she didn't mention cervical spondylosis. My sister has a blood pressure thing at home so I'll ask her to check me out. Are they any good those home ones? Thank you

I have pins and neeedles in my left hand down the little finger side. My GP said it's Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. Apparently it's caused by a trapped nerve in the elbow/upper arm. According to my GP the most common cause of it is sleeping on your left side with your left arm folded across the body. Her advice was to try and sleep with the left arm straight.......

Of the few home use blood pressure monitors I have seen, all seem to be fairly accurate (providing that the battery is OK) – when compared against recent readings taken by a GP.

Normal blood pressure is around 120/80; if low blood pressure is the cause of your pins & needles, I would expect one or both of these values to be at least 20 lower.

Thank you. It won't do any harm to check out my blood pressure with my sister's gadget, and she'll give me a cup of tea and a biscuit too. I was wondering if I'm on too much Thyroxine, because I feel quick tempered as well.

A colleague of mine suffered with low blood pressure, which his GP advised was the cause of him regularly suffering pins & needles.

I don’t think Sqad was his GP.

TSH was 0.48 a couple of months ago. That's supposedly in the normal range, but do you think it could be too overactive for me? I feel more even tempered when it's about 2.something.
