Sqad - Advice Please

Mr BD was diagnosed with diabetes last year and takes insulin twice daily and also takes metformin. He manages it very well and its not a problem. For the past six months he has a tremor in his left arm which is getting worse (he is left handed) which he is shrugging off as if it does not matter. He cannot write anymore and has trouble with his cutlery. He cooks a lot but he now has to hold his left arm with his right hand, to steady it, even if he is only taking say a egg out of a pan. I've lost count of the times the veg for the evening meal has been thrown over the kitchen floor. He wouldn't tell our GP so I did and he said he would monitor it. How can he do that if he never sees him? All his prescriptions are on repeats. I know we are probably both thinking about Parkinson's without actually saying it out loud but could you think of any other reason for the shakes. Apart from the diabetes he is normally fit, active and weighs under 11 stone. Are their any test our GP could do? If so I will drag him there. Thanks for your time.

Off hand and after reading you post, i must say that Parkinson's Disease springs immediately to mind.
There are other causes.....but nowhere near as common as Parkinson's disease.
My advice would be to try and get his GP to refer him to a Neurologist.
