Thing 2 (5 years old) has peeling palms and fingers. He has had it for some time but it seems to be getting worse. I am concerned about it now as I don't want it to get sore as the weather gets colder. I have googled it and it seems to be exfoliation keratolysis - it says to treat it with cream but doesn't give the actual name of one to get. Does anyone know what cream I should get or should I take him to the doctor? Thanks.
I'm not a doctor but it sounds like a problem similar to what I have. Your best bet is to take your lad to the doctors and ask to see a skin specialist, who will then be able to prescribe the correct cream for the condition. In the meantime, try using Calendular Cream (I use one made by Nelsons) which you don't need a prescription for, and E45 Emolient Wash instead of soap. E45 cream might help too. Good luck!
My sister has been getting this every summer; she's had it since she was a child. She's now 49 and still gets it. She has never use any sort of medication for it, it goes away on its own after a couple months.
Thanks all, have decided to take him to the doctor as he has had the peeling finger thing for a while but the blisters don't look right. Don't want them to get really sore when the weather gets cold.
