before we had the mmr jab did us girls used to get a single rubella injection, have been try to remember this for a job application and I am sure that I have had it many years ago as a teenager possibly in the 1970's
I don't remember getting a rubella jab, nor mumps and measles come to that. I've had all three illnesses although didn't catch rubella (German measles) until a young adult early 80s.
I must be the same age as you China, 10 in 1988. I remember getting the jab in secondary school and some drama after when one of my friends fainted afterwards in science (thankfully in the other direction from the Bunsen burners we were using).
thanx all just another query, did we get it in our forearm, cos I think the one that we had (boys too) on the upper arm and which left a scar was the bcg wasn't it? and this was given at 13/14
I was in secondary school from 1976-81. We had the BCG injection which consisted of a circle of needles on the first week and if you had no reaction you were given the jab the following week. The girls also got a rubella injection the following year.
I had rubella in upper arm at 10 (1984). Yes, bcg test is inside forearm. The vaccination has been replaced now (and when i had it at 15) with a non-scarring "daisy stamp"
Yes, the BCG was on the outer upper arm when we were 14, and left a nasty little white scar (which I still have).
I never had mumps - my sister caught it when I was about 4, and despite my mother's attempts to get her to pass it to me so I wouldn't get it in later life, I never did.
I had Rubella and BCG when I was 13 (1980) the rubella had disappeared from my system by the time I was 32 so I had the MMR after my daughter was born.
