I have been growing my hair for some time now and three weeks ago, It was getting on my nerves a bit so I thought I'd pop into the local hairdressers for a trim. The hairdresser suggested that I had it thinned out and proceeded to cut layers into it using those funny scissors which cut some but not all strands of hair. It looked lovely when I left the hairdressers and I was really pleased with myself for having saved a bit of money.

Since then I have been washing my hair every other day as it would not stay in shape and I had to scrape it back into a not very neat pony tail. It was awful!

I went back to my proper hairdresser today who gently gave me a telling off and has consequently had to cut it really short to sort it out.
As she said, 'You get what you pay for'.

I won't do that again!

Yep...I had a really bad haircut. It took my usual hairdresser 3 cuts to get it back to normal.
Are you gonna grow it again, Yilly ?.
Hairdressers never like it when you're"unfaithful". That was your punishment!
I've never had short hair, so haven't had to regrow it, but i can never get it to look how the hairdresser does. And the only time i think it looks great, is about half an hour before my next appointment.

Yes, Yont. Here we go again! I am so cross with myself!
Oh well, you'll know better next time.
I can style my own hair better than the hairdresser can. I have cowslicks and crowns.
Question Author
ummmm, three cuts to get it right? That must have been a bad haircut.
Tilly2, don't let the vicious mangle ensnare you flowing tresses:)
Question Author
stewey, they're not flowing any more and I don't have a mangle.
Tilly, pic please
Question Author
Sibs, as if, I'm going to post a picture on here! You know what I look/looked like.
Yes, but that was then, lets see the new Yilly !.

How can I take a photo of the back of my head?
Different lengths/layers put volume into a style, ie shorter hair supports weight of long lengths. When hair is all one length it tends to flatten a style.
Question Author
Tambo, what I had wasn't volume. It was lumps of hair sticking out at all angles. I've had a headache for three weeks and the amount of shampoo I've used is phenomenal.

The local hairdresser trim was a huge mistake.
was there volume with the long/short lengths ?
Tilly, perhaps it was a new and different hairstyle designed especially for you. :)
You said you were pleased ?

Since youve had it re-cut the style is lost.
Question Author
Well there was volume but it was all lumpy. Honestly, it made me ill!
Thinning scissors are likely to make it wispy. Proper layering is done with scissors. They add volume.
