After being excessively tired, weak and enduring stomach cramps for a few weeks I went to my doctors. My glands were also swollen. I wad told that I probably had a virus and to take paracetamol.
I was speaking to my mother on the phone, and explained that it was probably best not to meet up with her that werk in case I passed the virus on. Being excessively tired, I was sleeping up to 22 hours a day on my days off work, and feeling weak beyond words wjilst there. My mum expressed concern and told me get my sugar levels checked.
The pharmacy offers these tests so I adked to be checked out. I had a reading of 6.8 , seven hours clear of eating. I was told this was high. OH is now insisting that I go to the docs. I do not like wasting gp time. Anyone know if my symptoms and blood sugar reading could be related?
The doctor will be able to test you properly. If you look at my questions, i had something similar with my 10 year old recently. Diabetes was ruled out with a quick urine test and fingerprick test. However, he had no other symptoms. The main ones for diabetes are tiredness, thirst, urinating a lot and losing weight. But only your doctor can give you a definite answer.
Another thought....you could ask your GP if he thought checking your thyroid hormones would be a good idea, as an under active thyroid also springs to mind.
