Hello...I need new teeth (sorry to say I hav,nt looked after them) I am 51yrs young but only require the top set, bottom teeth are fine (well look fine) so I think it best to have them out & dentures fitted..but anyone know roughly how much a set costs? I require good ones & how long the treatment takes from start to finish..
Dentures about £220; it usual to first take a mould with original teeth in; then the next appointment about a week later to extract teeth and insert temporary dentures. Then after about 3 months, after gums have receded and settled down, mould again and a new set of dentures.
My partner got a complete new set last year £220 on NHS. He had to go on the waiting list for an NHS dentist which took about 18 months. £220 is for the complete job not just the teeth. They look good also.
You'll only need the top set then, and it's hard to advise, because private dental charges can vary. I had teeth out and a partial denture, the taking out didn't take long (I had a GA in the days when you could have one in the surgery), but other extractions I've had since really didn't take very long. He takes the impression the visit before, then you get your denture straight away.
You need to take advice about your options. I had a veneer on one of my teeth. It changes appearance without losing the tooth. Your upper teeth and roots and teeth are forming your facial structure and complete removal of whole lot is a drastic measure. I have lost a few teeth so a small denture is secured by clipping on to a good tooth. I also have a cantilevered bridge but they don't do these much now as implants are popular. Look at what is best without losing the lot is my advice.
