As my doctor said to me, just before her gave me the injection. "This is going to hurt you a lot more than it's going to hurt me."

Good luck. It's only a needle and it's not that bad.

Thank you Chrissa, when I asked my Doc he said "of course not I am doing it " !! Like you say it is only a needle and hopefully it will help my pain !
I had one in my achillies poppy. it was a bit sore but not inbearable
I had them for tennis elbow..don't play tennis either !!....didn't hurt, but didn't help either :-(
unbearable i meant sorry
I've had one twice but in the shoulder. I have to be honest it was somewhat intense but not enough to make me cry out and only lasted about 10 seconds. The second one was a miracle cure so really worth it.

Thanks everyone, I will be brave, grit my teeth and just hope it works !
I may have to have one in my shoulder. But got to wait nearly 3 weeks for an x-ray first!
I had to have an x-ray first too cupid, in fact my GP seemed to be dragging his heels in general about the cortisone.
I find it most difficult washing my hair....putting arm in the air. Been given tramadol but they don't help much.

I had X Ray and this injection is to delay a knee replacement ! seeing as I have had both hips replaced I want to delay it if I can.
And here's me moaning about one shoulder...Hope you're relieved of pain soon poppyjr.
I had several in my ribcage and they hurt like hell, probably because the doctor was trying to get under and between my ribs though. I would imagine it will be a lot less painful in the knee.
I've had both shoulders done twice and both my hips done and they were fine. They said the shoulders are supposed to be the most painful (not sure if that's right) but it was more pressure than pain really and they spray will cold stuff and put some anaesthetic in the injections.

I just try and relax and be as still as I can, as one Dr said during one, I could shout, scream, swear, just don't move :)

Good luck, hope it helps for you, the ones I have had have been brilliant while they lasted. The difference in my shoulders was amazing! Cupid, make sure they give you some exercises for after to make sure you can build up strength gently if you haven't been able to use it for a while.
Had many over the years. In both shoulders that helped for a short time but didn't last long before the pain was back.

In a thumb thats a complete success for some years.

3 in a knee to delay a replacement. First worked 100% for 3 months, second ok-ish but didn't last, 3rd no good at all so had a replacement.

Some hurt a little more than others but well worth trying for the short time it takes to get it done. I guess it dends how experienced the person who administers it.
