Their are medications that may slow the onset and things we can do ourselves as well.
I think I would also like to know so we can understand what is going on when we first start getting the first symptoms and we can seek help and advice.
No, I wouldn't want to know. If its going to be full blown dementia within the year, it's too late to do anything about it now, anyway. It would just be terrifying waiting for it to affect you.
I would. As ratter says, drugs like aricept seem to be very effective in delaying symptoms- and the sooner you can take them, the better. You can also plan ahead to take worry and guilt off your family.
