Identifying the cause should really be your priority.

Capsaicin cream may help but I'm not sure it is available OTC.
Have you had a cold or any other infection recently or are you on any medication for a underlying condition.(You had a trapped nerve in the neck some weeks ago)?

\\\\ nothing to see just red \\\

Do you normally have red arms?....;-)

Red blotches? Red lumps?

You have a good memory Sqad - still having treatment for trapped nerve, it is a lot better, not going down arm any more or up head - not taking nay painkillers either, not taken them for weeks, but arm itching started only last week. The medication I am on are Atenolol for SVT, Bendromethiazide for fluid retention and meloxicam, been taking them for years. No I don't have normally red arms - it's mainly on the creases where my elbow bends, I thought it was prickyl heat but it doesn't look like the prickley heat I've ever seen.
Well, I would use 1%hydrocortisone cream which can be obtained over the counter, applied mainly to the elbow skin creases.

As to the cause.................no idea.
i didn't think capsaicin cream was for itching eccles?
I have developed a rash on my shins and my forearms and dry patches. As sqad says hydrocortisone cream may help. If it doesn't clear go to see your GP, I've tried several creams and antihistimine tablets and seen a dermatologist at the Hospital but it hasn't cleared completely yet. At the moment I am waiting to go for a patch test for any allergies.
Could it be prickly heat?

Thanks Sqad, I have hydrocortisone cream and have applied it - feels better already. Many thanks again Sqad, always spot on!
LOL.....not always................but occasionally.;-)
PIRITON tablets are good,I sometimes get all itchy, doc gave me them but you can buy in chemist(I saw them in Lloyds Pharmacist) if you do not get free perscriptions...probably cheaper.
