Reminiscing with my Mum about the death of my father of cancer in hospital in march 2008,my Mum is convinced my Dad passed away in the wee small hours i.e. between midnight and 6a.m. and at that time there was NO repeat NO Macmillan nurse (s) anywhere within one of (if not thee) biggest hospitals in the northwest of England.Understanding that since march 2008 there has been major improvements to the care programme of this great organisation, can anybody out there CONFIRM that in 2008,Macmillan did NOT operate a 24/7 service ?

yes, i can confirm it. Most macmillan nurses work 9-5 M-F, or more recently on a 7 day rota, but still not out of office hours.
It is marie curie nurses who work overnight in people's homes, and they did that way before 2008
Marie Curie might not be available either, it depends on what is in your area and who the local cancer service buys contracts from.
On re reading your question, I didn't think that Macmillan Nurses gave care in hospitals (not hospices) anyway
