A Lump On The Side Of The Nose.

It's now about the size of a pea and has grown on the side of the nose of a woman in her mid 70s. It's not inflamed or sore. I've suggested she go to the doctor but her only reply was: Why, what is it?
Anyone any thoughts?

yes, any growth should be seen by a doctor, getting '' the lady '' might not be that easy i'm assuming sandy. would she go to gp if you said a routine ''check up is due with her gp ?

Possibly just a cyst. Harmless, I gather. My son has one at the side of his nose and the doctor didn't seem unduly bothered. Usually found in younger people than your lady (my son is 30, and that's around the "right" age group). Doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics, which did nothing of course, and when he went back at the end of the course, he just told him that if it didn't worry him just leave it. He could see a cosmetic surgeon and have it removed, but he's a big Wendy when it comes to anything that might be painful, so I think he's going to leave it.

I know the doctor should be the obvious first stop but...

They can and do regularly appear as lumps, sometimes they have the appearance of a pimple, sometimes not.

Almost certainly a sebaceous cyst.

Innocent and not malignant.
