Skeletal Strain
12 Answers
Hello,
skeletal strain,( doctor says) extreme pain, and i mean extreme pain, job to breath, have to hold chest, can hardly walk, painful to lift arms etc. pain killers co-codamol, not working much, feeling very rough, pain never stops, sleep only a few hours, painful to turn over in bed, and terrible pain getting into or out of bed. is this normal for a skeletal strain in a 65 year old woman? been like this for a week, appetite gone, taking warfarin and a tablet for irregular heartbeat for the last two years. any ideas?
thanks, Annie.

At this point i can understand why people with terminal illness and extreme pain want to die, the pain overtakes any thoughts of the future. i realise a skeletal strain is not terminal, and I should remember there are other people in far.far worse pain than me. But i was told that a skeletal strain will last three months? Hope not.
I don't know if its arthritis related, i do have un'diagnosed arthritis ( doctor saw lumps on hand and fingers) said it was, hands have been painful for months, been a job to use them to do any small stuff. thing that concerns me is that i had a mammogram a few days before the " skeletal strain" started, it was dead painful. i had breast cancer when i was 30, had an op, and been painful in that region ever since ( was told it was terminal,35 years ago now, so theres hope for everyone, just be positive)

Hi all,
thanks for the answers. pain subsiding slightly, feeling a bit more like doing things and not feeling sorry for myself so much. got a warfarin test on monday, as the doctor said the pain killers or the migraine tablets will interfere with the blood. Doctor also said ibrufen would be the best, but not if you have an irregular heartbeat ( verapamil being taken). Don't get old!!!

Penelope,
symptoms slowly improving thank you. had terrible trouble getting out of bed this morning, you have to use muscles everywhere, and pain was really bad, but as the day went on a great improvement, just hope it continues tomorrow, housework is building up, although O.H. does his best, its still not the same as doing it yourself.
