Cold Sores

Hi, please can anyone tell me of any home treatments to do with a cold sore that has appeared over night on my lip never ever had one before so I am totally in need of advice here.

home treatments will not do anything, you need to go get cold sore cream, supermarket own brand is cheapest just make sure the active ingrediant is aciclovir

if you've never had them before & its already come up, its too late to stop it but the cream will help speed up the healing. next time when you feel the tingly itchyness, if you get the cream on then before it comes out you can usually stop it

I have suffered with these for years and have always used Zovirax to great effect. Keep applying at regular intervals.

Is it on your lip or at the corner of your mouth. One is Herpes and the other is a deficiency of vitamin B2

In addition to creams containing the ingredient aciclovir (dont pay over the odds you can get tubes for 1.50) If you can stand the slight pain I have found rubbing I mean "RUB" the area with perfume or aftershave helps dry it up.

At the first tingle, hold an ice cube on to the sore until it "freezes". Seems to speed up healing process.

You can buy cold sore patches at the chemist. They're like little plasters without the padding on. I find them vey good when I have a cold sore.
