New Knees

I have had two new knees in the past 2 years, and although the initial pain has gone why am I having stiff knees while in bed?, and sometimes they are really sore, no pain though which is nice, has any one else had this happen?

grannie ....no I haven't had knee replacements, but a few general comments if they will help your question.

For relief of pain...generally speaking......hip replacement is more successful than knee replacement.

Generally speaking, the pain from O.A of the knee is worse when you rest and is eased by exercise.

I am not surprised that your replaced knee joints give you most problems at rest.

Take ibuprofen before going to bed.

Grannie .. are your knees full knees or half knees and are you glad you had them done ?
Did they remove the pain you suffered prior to surgery ?

I hae 2 new knee's....one since 2000 the other 2002..I too get stiffness even now.

The less I am on them the stiffer they become, so a little exercise is good for them to ease them.

Its often reckoned new joints last around 10 years but my first is already 15 years old.

I've spent the past 25 years being told I'm to young to have a new knee, but having spent the past 7 months on crutches, I finally had half a knee done two weeks ago. At this point I am well impressed and it is the first time I can ever remember not having that ever present pain in the top of my shin.

I think this is par for the course for knee replacement to be honest

My cousin had both of his done in South Africa and was advised by the surgeon to walk every day so that the joints don't get stiff, he's followed the advice walking every morning and evening for the past5 years and has not had any problems.

Yes they are both full knees, and yes I am more than glad that I had them done.the nagging pain goes as soon as the job is done, lovely,
