Yes...but very very rare. No contraception is 100%.

Unfortunately yes, and just to add to it ....my coil caused an ectopic pregnancy and an emergency op, so nothing is completely safe ...sorry :(

I was going to say ectopic are more common when you have the coil fitted but I wasn't sure if that had changed since I had one.

Mine was .... Oh ages ago, so things may well have improved .. Hopefully !!

When I had the coil it was just the bog standard one. Now they do various kinds.

Still, pregnancy rates are very small.

I still think the best contraception pill is 1 Paracetamol gripped very tightly between the knees.

I doubt she became pregnat whilst having the coil fitted, maybe after.

That's one of the perils of using the old....."I'm allergic to latex" line.....

As has been explained, it's uncommon...but certainly not impossible.
Is your girlfriend sure she is pregnant?
