I do have social anxiety, so I am not sure if this is part of that, but it really gets me down.
I was ordering a take away tonight and while doing so, I decided to put a comment in the text box where you specify how you would like your meal cooked etc., that my last take away from them was excellent, followed by a thank you.
The delivery driver arrived (who I think was either the owner or the manager) and when I answered the door he said "thank you for the comment on your last take away". I then replied with "that's great", when I said it I thought to myself what the hell are you saying that does not even make sense. There was a bit of a silence and he then said "well enjoy your meal" I said "thank you" and could not wait to close the door.
Afterwards I could think of all the right things I could have said, that would have made sense, even a simple you're welcome, but oh no that would be too straight forward.
Now I think the guy must thing I am some strange idiot who cant even hold a conversation properly. I feel embarrassed and it will probably mean that I will not order from them again.
I'm unsure what you think you should have said, nor why the driver expected you to say anything. Didn't mistake hos waiting for a tip with expecting a conversation, were you ?
I'm sure that the delivery driver is not giving this a second thought. He's probably too busy with other deliveries. It would be silly not to order from them again, if they are so good.
