Our Son quite often has sickness when he is on holiday, for a day or so. Perfectly ok at home. He's always careful but likes to try the local foods within reason. Anyone else have experience of this.
Change of water often does it to me. Is he really careful with the things you don't always think about - teeth cleaning, ice in drinks etc. In UK I think bottled water is a huge con but I use it for everything abroad even if the tap water is deemed safe.
"Clearly you are not saying that sterilisation in water works in Europe is inferior to that in the UK....." well actually I think I am saying that. I'm saying tap water in UK is perfectly safe to drink everywhere, I don't get the 'tastes awful' brigade but that's me. I'd never drink the tap water in Menorca.
Well at least their not smelly :-) I don't expect you've experienced Spanish holiday apartments with their smelly showers, sinks and drains much darling.
tee dee
has no one here heard of travellers diarrhoea ?
NEJM got doctors to send in tissue paper they had wiped their bottoms with and established 1976 that is that it was toxigenic E Coli
Now it is said to the liddle viruses you get in water supply ( Day 5 for me ) and no unless you really stick to it, bottled water wont work ( usual tap water gets in the sides in the sense of uncooked food etc )
eg in Egypt the ice for your drinks is made from local Nile water ....
erm and yes I used to get it when I went to London on a monthly basis that I persuaded my employer to count my bottled water as relevant expenses
and as for purity of tap water - yes I was told not to drink Naples tap water when I was there as it was low quality - by the Italians. Then when I puked everywhere they asked - didja clean your teeth in tap water ?
LOL...no, you are correct, i do not mix with those sort of .."people"...who come abroad and "holiday" in such dwellings.
The showers, drains and sinks are fine until they are made "smelly" but the temporary incumbents.
I often lose my appetite for the first few days of a holiday. Nothing to worry about, IMHO.
I've been to Menorca, but can't remember what the tap water tasted like. I Don't remember buying bottled water to avoid it though.
Sugget your son gets hold of some locally produced yoghurt on arrival and eats some daily - always worked for me and in some very 'backward' parts of the world.
// they are made "smelly" but the temporary incumbents.//
