I've got shingles, doc given me antiviral tabs which she said won't cure it but will control the rash. I know the rash can last ages but how long does this worn out fluey feeling last? All I want to do is sleep.

How long is a piece of string? Are you young, old, otherwise healthy, immunosuppressed?..............should not last longer than a week, but could last up to a month if the pain is severe.

As with most viral things, the more you rest and generally take care of yourself, the shorter the time it will last.

I was diagnosed with shingles yesterday. I have it in my scalp and on one eyebrow. My doctor has given me Aciclovir 800mg to take 5 times a day. The thing that is really getting me down is the itching. Some websites suggest calomine lotion but my GP says not to. Can anyone help? TIA
