How Often Should You Get Your Eye Tested?

I'm getting increasingly bad headaches recently and wondered if that could be the culprit, been at least 18 months since getting my eyes tested.

They recommend every twelve months, or when your vision is noticeably affecting you - as yours is - whichever comes first.

I am called in every 2 years... but oh has beginnings of cataracts and is called every year..same optician

anthro......so many variables in that question....e.g are you a diabetic, what is your age.....etc. A bland answer to your question, is every 2 years.
In my opinion, bad headaches are not commonly due to eye problems.

Sqad, 27, not diabetic. Only medication I'm on is 10mg citalopram for depression.

Right.......then I would get them tested if you feel that you have difficulty in reading or watching TV.
But if you feel that your headaches are due to eye problems then fine,get them tested, but don't be disappointed if your eyes are fine.

Do you wear glasses already?

My optician said every two years until I hit 40 and now I get a reminder every year.

That might be because there was a significant change in my prescription.

If I lost my glasses I wouldn't be able to read.

Do you spend a lot of time using a computer? Headaches are a known problem with excessive use of PCs (and, even worse, laptops - because their use encourages poor posture).

I have never had my eyes tested. I use 1.5 reading glasses in low light but other than that need no mechanical aids. I can read the number on the front of a bus before Mrs NJ can see the bus.

Go and get checked as it's been 18 months anyway and remember it isn't just about how well you can read.

Glaucoma can creep up on you, it tipped me over from being a lifelong myopic into being partially sighted.

So get pressures checked.

OPer is 27 years old......glaucoma is extremely unlikely.

Do you grind your teeth or clench your jaw? They are favourite causes of headaches.
