Apart from the annoying habit of postings using the christian names of ABers instead of their Username or a shortened version of it , we see time and time again the post of "get a life"
What does that mean? What sort of life? Joining AQB, waving at each other, chatting in the morning, doing crosswords, OR, going to the gymn, playing tennis, seeing how much we weigh and telly AB?
What does it mean? To me it is meaningless and should be avoided.

LOL^^
You would never use a shortened version of a user name would you squid ?
Question Author
asquith....read my original post.....I said that a shortened version of the username was acceptable.
that some people don't have one, they see everything in petty detail, or are nit pickers, i am not necessarily talking about ABers. But some people out in the big wide world could do with a kick up the backside, with their constant flag waving, diversity espousing and constant nagging, we are all in together ad infinitum.
It is a rude way of telling people to stop whinging or criticising - basically means become an all-forgiving anything goes super liberal :-)
You are a rude person.

danny......one has to know the character of one's life before you can issue the order,,,"get a life"

Anyway....can't anybody answer a question without the usual and often inappropriate....link.
Hasn't anyone any PERSONAL contributions?
Just trying to post in as simple a way as possible.
It's not a term I use often - I see it as a shorthand way of saying...

"For goodness sake, it's Monday, the beds want making the dog needs walking and the baby is out of nappies, and all you want to do is talk about the referee at yesterday's match."
The other expression which puzzles me is 'grow a pair'.
I don't think it means quite what Prudie says, Sqa, it's more usually suggesting that someone is obsessing over trivia when the world has more interesting and important things to offer. You're still allowed to whinge about the big stuff, because otherwise where would AB be?

(I haven't actually seen the phrase used much on AB, to tell the truth.)
Question Author
LOL....^^^ is that to AB women or the men? LOL
We seem to be taking....get a life....differently.

I take it in the same way as I take....end of....whatever.....talk to the hand...

The user simply isn't able to come up with anything better or more sensible....x
is it shorthand for 'get a different life because the one you have is no longer interesting me'
That one doesn't puzzle me Jack, but not one I'd use.
No, we won't go there JD - not one I'd use either.
To me it's people obsessing about trivia and real non important stuff. You know like the people who write in to complain about a TV programme, people who get offended over the tiniest thing, people who get offended on other peoples behalf...stuff like that.
Perhaps I shouldn't post on here until I have got a life.
