A bloody nuisance. Instead of logging online now with a password and number - what have we to do now. Insert the 1st letter, 5th letter and 9th letter - same with number.

I done very well but on Wednesday - everything went awry - the site wouldn't take it. Am now awaiting all new passwords.

I was happy for the last 10 years - why do they change things.

I can't help it but I have to say after your previous thread......
Bit of a ballsup, Conne.... ;-)
HSBC has had a similar system since they started internet banking.
It is easy once you get used to it, conne honest.
it's so nobody can hack your account and see your whole password, I expect. Even if they do, all they get is three digits.
My Bank has always done it that way, I say/count them on my fingers before I input.
Santander and other banks I use all seem to work in this way. One advantage is that if anyone is logging your keystrokes they probably still can't work out your passwords/logins. It isn't easy though if you are ona train for example- i have to count the letters off my password etc on my fingers
It's safer because illicit keyboard loggers can't crack it.
I'm with Santander - I'll have to go and have a look.

I've also got an account with another building society - and I'm impressed with their security measures - as well as username and password, you have to enter a code from a grid card they give you - and the card is unique to each customer.
TSB has a username and password and then you enter certain characters of your "memorable information". I think it is fairly standard.
They haven't.... we're you on the genuine site?

I hope I was Rowan - when I typed my ID number - my familiar image and words came up on the site. But I'll ring them.

Question Author
Rowan - I rang there and very lucky got a guy from Belfast - that never happens - anyway after a few security questions - he's got me sorted.

New details are on the way. And it is the first letter, 2nd etc.

He told me (which I knew) that they had had to change to this for security reasons.

I'm still on the do you recognise this image set up.
