My female friend is needing to get her gall bladder out but doesn't wanna leave her kids for a week - what happens if she just leaves it? Or is there anything she can do to stop the pain? Thanks in advance
If she's been advised to have it removed surely it's far better that she has it done while she's well enough to make arrangements for her children rather than wait for it to become an emergency. I know it's hard but they'll be fine for a week, whereas if she leaves it & becomes very ill it make take longer to recover.
Don`t eat anything that contains fat.The skimmed milk that is practically water is alright. Plain vegetables, lean chicken, steamed cod.If she has been advised to have it removed she probably should. I have had gall stones for 20 years and I am lucky that they`ve never moved.
the pain is atrocious, so she needs to get the op done, far more debilitating having to cope with the pain and her children! I had keyhole surgery in 1991 and was only in hospital for about 4 days then, so will be much more advanced now.
I had my first and only gallstones in 1996 - I thought I was dying, the pain was that bad. (My pain was low on my back, and I thought my kidney was failing.) I was admitted to hospital on Thursday, had laproscopic surgery Friday and was home Saturday night. After 3 days of bedrest I was back in full swing. I cannot imagine delaying the surgery.
If one has children, it will never be a convenient time to be out of circulation. But how much good will she be if she's doubled over in pain?
Thanks all, I will pass this onto her. If i got any more info then will add it. My advise was to go to hosp. Her hubby in army & is posted abroad so that why she worried about the kids (has 2)
