How do you get a second opinion? IMPORTANT

Please could someone tell me how I get a second opinion as for the last few years I have been getting recurrent chest infections. In the last two months I've had two and have seen my doctor atleast 6 times in the last year. Both in December and now I have been prescribed a course of Amoxycillin but it's obviusly not working and my doc hasn't even suggested any tests. I am sure that there is some underlying problem. Although my doc is always very nice and I usually get seen promptly I feel I need a second opinion but how do I do as I dont want to offend my own GP? Thanks

If there`s more than one doctor in the practice, make an appoitment to see one of the others. If not, just tell your doctor nicely that you`re not happy & would like to have a second oppinion. By now you should have at least been sent for an X ray.

If you can afford it go to a private practice, not sure logistically with referals to hospitals with private.
