The question I am asking is had he stopped breathing when he went blue and had not come back when he did would it have been the time to do kiss of life or heart massage.?I wouldnt want to waste any time as I know you only have 4 minutes but then again I know it is dangerous to do it if the person already breathing. As I say thankfully he is running around ok now but it was awful at the time . Don't think I can take anymore of my grandchildren going blue on me as this is the second since sunday. many thanks for your replies. Brenda

I did a first aid training recently, and they taught us about the recovery posistion, and what to do when someone stops breathing (ie: CPR).

If your grandson went blue, he very likely stopped breathing. To make sure, while he is lying on his back, tilt his head back by pushing his chin up gently and press your ear against his mouth. If he is breathing, you will hear it. If not, and he's not responsive to a gentle shake on the shoulders, start CPR immediately.

Hello max thankyou for your reply.I did do a first aid course a long time ago and althoguh you think you forget everything you don't really. I did put him down and tilt his head back and was just looking for his chest to see if it moved. I had completey forgotten to put my ear over his mouth to see if he was breathing.so that I will remember if needed to again.I was thinking about CPR ,if I there was no rise and fall of his chest. and then he came round again and started to cry.But thankyou because I had forgotten that important step.He is now home from hospital.
