Hi, Unfortunately I suffer from asthma, which is most agitated when exercising, although can be triggered by other things, such as allergens, it seems to get less agitated in the summer though? anyway.. I don't currently need to take medicine to calm it down, as I find stopping the exercise I'm doing (either boxing or jogging) and taking long, deep breaths, opens my lungs back out and the tightness eases off gradually on its own, then I continue with my excercise.
when inhaling, I expand my lungs fully and hold my breath for a few seconds and then exhale normally through my nose, this works everytime for me.
However as a child, I was affected more seriously by the symptoms and had no choice but to use my inhailers, I had a blue one (bronchodilator) which I took when I could feel the symptoms flare up, which gave instant relief, this lasted roughly 2 - 4 hours. And I also had a brown one (which contained a form of steriod), this had to be taken twice daily, and it was a preventitive measure rather than relief from symptoms. Hope some of this helps :)
