Is it still possible to have moulds done for dentures even when teeth have been extracted? Everyone says you have them done beforehand.

I am in the process of having most of my teeth replaced by dentures. Last week I had 5 teeth extracted and another 4 are going next visit. The moulds (impressions) will be done after that.
