Birth defects with epilepsy medication

I'm on Lamotrigine for my epilepsy and i'm told that this medication is one which has had the least incidence of birth defects when the epileptic person is pregnant. However 'least' is by no means none, I wondered if anyone knows what type of birth defects are associated with epilepsy medicine. I'm not planning on having children for a fair few years yet but I'd rather be prepared ahead of time for what i might expect.

Hi i am on lamotrigine myself so i thought i would do a bit of research on the internet for you because i would like to know myself.
No one can define birth defects: it could be anything like cleft pallette, or just plain abnormal defects.
i found a website to do with lamotrigine testing on rats and it describes the tests they done and what the outcomes are.
