Get yourself some valerian from a health food shop. There are loads of other things I could recommend (Nytol etc) but they all contain valerian, so you might as well get it in its purest form.

If you live in America, or are going to be there, get yourself some Melatonin. This helps promote natural sleep and is also a good way to tackle jetlag!
You can get melatonin over the internet, just google it. Sort of resets your clock. For some reason its not available over hear but you can buy it off the shelf in the US.
What is it that keeps you awake?
I need absolute silence and both ears covered by feather pillows to sleep.
I agree with chazza about valerian, it works well for me but I only need it when I have been doing nightshifts. Do you think your lifestyle contributes to your insomnia?
Question Author
yes i do nightshifts also, but think the menopause and working weird hours hasnt helped, even when i am on days off when it comes to going to sleep really tired either lie there for ages, or go off straight way and then wake up fter ten or fifteen minutes
I swear by Twinings Apple & Camomile Tea, 1 or 2 cups of that and I'm away.
