(imikec) I think I tore a muscle using dumb bells while doing curls. Can I still use the dumb bells doing less and fewer reps, or should I just give time for a healing process. The problem is I really don't what to stop because it will stop my progress.

My advice would be to rest it for a while. I would not think you will go backwards in that time, and it is not advisable to continue working a damaged muscle. I'm not an expert though!
Tearing a muscle needs to be corrected by surgical intervention. Its where the muscle becomes detached from the bone.

DOMS is muscle soreness and is generally the norm when doing weight training. Many say that DOMS is required for muscle growth but this is debated

Tendonitus is painfull and often felt around the elbow joint and lower bicep. Tendons are not as strong as the bicep and can become injured. Generally you can bicep curl more weight than the tendon can handle especially if your new to weight training. Tendonitus is generally down to lifting to heavy a weight. If you think you have tendonitus then dont train you must rest.
If you want to increase tendon strength, buy a cheap broom handle, some garden twine and some round weights, the type with a hole in the middle.

Tie the twine round the centre of the broom handle, and holding the handle out in front of you measure off enough twine to reach the ground plus an extra foot.
Cut the twine and tie the loose end around the weight.

Hold the broom handle straight out in front of you and wind it up until the weight reaches the handle, then wind it slowly back down. Repeat until your arms are ready to fall off.
