Hi can you tell me if its normal to get rainbow flashing lights with a migraine but no headache, if not what could it be? x

Yes I have had this also, it seems as if you are looking through a kaelidescope and lasts for about an hour. It really freaked me out at first but I realised it is a form of migraine. Most people have this before the pain but like you I never got any pain. However recently I have had some proper migraines believe me it isn't nice. Best thing to get is Immigran from the Chemist, expensive, but will wipe out the pain in half an hour. Leaves your skin felling very sensitive and hot drinks seem even hotter.

Had this once - horrible !! Went to the optician, she said it's called "visual migraine" and quite common. She couldn't give a reason for it though.

trying to find anything about these eye drops too
lumigan and alphagan thought might be side effects of them, cant find anything that says it causes coloured lights, can you see if you can do any better. xxx

I have been having those migraines for about 15 years. they are known as "classical" migraines.The visual disturbances(scotoma) are part of the "aura"...a kind of warning of impending migraine. classical migraines aren't charecterised by seering headaches. A good book is MIGRAINE by Oliver Sacks
