If a couple have sex 2 or 3 days before the ladies period is due to start, can it bring it on early?
Would having the mirena coil make a difference to this too.

Cheers x

Hi sleepy, thanx for your reply :o)

This isn't just like a little blood, this is a full on period, I was only a day or 2 away so assumed it must be my period coming on and just wondered if sex could bring one on when it is only a day or 2 away anyway. I am going to go see my Doctor about this I was just wondering if this was possible.

Thanx again :o)
good luck best to see a doc i really dont know xxx
maybe you would of just come on at that time even if you had not had sex . it has happened to me b4 .
i've found this can sometimes happen - if i'm due on in a day or so and have sex it usualy comes a bit earlier...
Hi Wingnut,
Here is a link to the mirena coil. Scroll down to it, and read the product monograph aswell as the patient information.
This information will not be relayed to you by the doctor and it is important you get this information before you go ahead with it.
I gained 2 stone in weight, looked permanently pregnant, totally got put off sex as I had no libido, got bad acne and my hair became very thin and begun to fall out. My periods became very heavy, where as the patient leaflet states it stops your periods..... maybe.
I got it removed and it has taken over a year to recover from the experience.
Some people however do get on with it.

Hi Beryllium!
Thank you so much for your post, I already have the mirena coil and just wondered if it could be because of the hormones with that that may have brought on the period after sex. It wasn't clear in my question and I did make it sound as if having the coil would prevent it happening in the future. So sorry after the trouble you have gone to :o)

I have found that my periods have never been the same since having the coil, and I did bleed after sex and the doctor told me it was because of the coil (after checking me out) God the things us woman have to go through!!!

Thank you again all for your posts :o)
