my father in law broke his hip in a nursing home nearly a week ago and still hasnt been operated on because the hospital keep saying more serious cases keep coming in surely this is illegal?
Are you sure they are going to operate? Not all fractured hips require surgery - simple fractures can be treated by binding and immobilisation, which helps the bones knit together.
If he is waiting for an operation, however, the delay is appalling. Contact his MP.
i don't know about it being illegal, but i think it's appaling to keep an elderly person waiting that long. if it was my father(inlaw) i would be seriously rattling some cages now, and demanding some answers. if an operation isn't necessary then they need to explain to him (and you) why it isn't, and what treatment they will provide.
ask, ask and ask again, until you're all satisfied with the answers.
ty 4 ur responses, my father in law went down at 2pm today for his op. my wife asked till she was blue in the face why a elderly person sufffering from dementia was being overlooked and all they said was more serious injuries needed treating! when she asked for the name of the person making the decision to keep him waiting she was refused that imformation. ty once again
