Am I depressed?
4 Answers
I lost my internet connection, so I apologise if I am repeating my question. I have had some terrible family problems recently. As a result, I can't eat, I can't sleep and I cry a lot. My husband is getting really fed up with me, as I am myself. He was really kind to begin with, but now he's had enough. Do you think I should go to the doctor, or just eat healthily and 'get a grip'? Any advice would be really appreciated.

I can empathise with what your going through, not the personal, but the depression, maybe the first thing would be to get it diagnosed, so possibly a visit to the docs might be in order.
I went through a really bad patch not so long ago, highs and lows, the whole ish, so I had a look on the web, and came up with this site, haven't used it yet, but I just may.
But whatever, I wish you well, and sincerely hope things get better for you.

Hi there. You sound like you're extremely stressed first and foremost. Your mind is obviously working overtime thinking about all the things that have been going on - and that is perfectly natural. Your husband needs to be more supportive - and this is really important as it's all too easy to go to the doctors and be diagnosed...and get a prescription for some drugs to help. However, the most important thing is to treat the symptons...ie address the issues that are causing you concern. I would personally recommend that you visit a homeopathic person as they will help to advise you re your diet etc which plays a huge part of helping you to feel better. Taking some time to learn to relax is very important too as the mind sometimes needs help to switch off (massage etc). You would also probably benefit from some counselling as you obviously need to talk/share your feelings and if your husband is finding it difficult to understand (which is perfectly common when the other person doesn't feel the same way/have the same response to whatever problems/issues have arisen) then it's good to talk to someone who is independent of the situations etc. Most importantly - try to be positive. You can change how you are feeling. Best of luck.
Thanks, everyone. This week I am finding it hard to even get dressed, so I think I need to get some professional help. If that means medication, then I think I need to face that now. I feel really pathetic to be honest, but my problems with my oldest son have just been so upsetting that I can't seem to function, even on the simplest level. It's helpful though to 'speak' to strangers who don't have any hidden agenda, who can be honest too. Thanks again.
