getting my body back to the gym

well struggling to get my old and knackered body back into excersise, after having a total hysterectomy last year, not as able as i used to be, and the weight is piling on, do nighshifts so the next day feel like hell, so lose that day, but when i am off just cant motivate myself to do much, walk alot though, but my joints ache and i get stiff when i wake up,dont mentally feel the same as i once did,anybody got anything to inspire me!!!!

It's a 5k event (around 3 miles), women only, which can be done at any speed (slow walk, fast walk, jog, run). Use this as your motivation to get your butt out of bed and do a little training. Trust me, you will enjoy the experience, it's a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but you will feel so proud to do it.

Very sorry to hear about your friend. I find in the gym its easier to feel motivated listening to my own music rather than the dross on the loud speakers, and do that little bit extra each time I go say an extra 200 metres on the rower.Try something different like pilates and don't be to disheartened if your body won't let you do what you want it to. It won't be long before you get the buzz again!
