Periodontal Surgery
1 Answers
I have been diagnosed with periodontal disease and after paying over 800 for deep root scaling am now told I need gum surgery to reduce the 'pockets' round my teeth.! I have been quoted nearly 2,000 just for the bottom jaw.Has anyone had this surgery? If so, does it work and will I end up looking hideous with really long teeth?
Thanks

After surgery I had stitches across top and bottom gums, which were then covered with some material that felt like Bluetack. It had to stay in for about a week and then I returned to have the stitches removed.I should imagine that these days they would use soluble stitches. As for the result, yes, your teeth probably will be a bit more exposed but most people will never notice. Also,I suppose,I was fortunate to have this done on NHS,which cost me nothing apart from travel to Liverpool from Manchester a few times.
