my daughter had bells palsy a few years ago, her doctor sent her to the physio immediately to start work on the muscles in her face and gave her steroids to help, she also had to have her eyes taped down at night because she couldnt close them to go to sleep. she had to sit with ice cubes, or anything from the freezer on her face to help, what is your doctor doing to help?
I had a Bells Palsy attack 6 years ago. I was given a weeks course of Prednisone (Steroids),Painkillers and a lubricant to keep my affected eye moist (Viscotears). We all have 75,000 craniel nerves in our brain and its just one nerve (the 7th) that degenerates thus causing the palsy. All you can do is,take painkillers for any headpain, earache etc and make sure you wear an eye patch from your GP using Micropore tape to keep it in place. Its vital you exercise the affected side. Raise your eyebrows then lower every hour or so. Pucker your lips hold and release. Frown on and off throughout the day. Hope this helps:-)
