Has anyone tried a gallbladder cleanse to flush stones away. My dad has gallstones and is in discomfort waiting for his op to have it removed. There is a recipe on http://www.curezone.com/cleanse/liver/huldas_r ecipe.aspwhich i wondering if my dad should try it. Problem is, ive heard it strains the kidneys slightly as the stones pass through. My dad had a kidney transplant last year so maybe its not such a good idea for him. Also, any ideas on what he could eat while his waiting for the op? Ive read on the internet that he should stay away from greasy foods.

NO NO NO!

If this worked the NHS wouldn't be doing the ops - they'd just give the patients a bottle of vegetable oil, a grapefruit and epsom salts.

Your dad will have a good idea of the foods that cause him pain - everyone is different.

Fatty foods should be avoided, he can take over the counter pain killers (unless there are other reasons why he can't) and applying warmth to the area may be beneficial - a hot water bottle.

Hopefully he won't be waiting too long for his op.
I agree with Ethel. Your dad should just take painkillers and avoid fatty food lozlg. I had just one large gallstone which I had removed by keyhole surgery. Its a piece of cake, I was in for just 24 hours. Whilst I was waiting for my date to go in,my gp prescribed Zoton, they prevent acid/bile build up. Don't let him try any of these so callled cleansers.
