Jogging distance

Hi
I've just started jogging and last night jogged for 7 mins at a pretty slow pace. Does anyone have any ideas of roughly how far this might be? (I know it will be a guesstimate).
Thanks

The night before I only managed 3.5 mins, so very impressed with myself. Going to try and do the same route tonight so I can prove to myself it wasn't a one off!!
I'd love to be able to come in from work and think 'I think I'm going to go for a 5 mile run now'.
Been promising myself I'd do it for ages so feeling pretty impressed with myself, even if it was only 7 odd mins!
Thanks again.

Hi Sasha - well done on taking up jogging - it's totally addictive!
I don't think you'd have managed a mile in 7 minutes that's a pretty fast pace to do 7 min miles. When I go on a training run I do just over 9 min miles and when I race I do just under 8 min miles so I would expect you to be running at somewhere between 10 - 12 minute miles.
If you want to know the distance you have run you could always use a website that allows you to map your route (it also helps if you want to map your route before your run). Here's the link:

When you get more confident with your distances if you want to improve your times/distances I recommend you join a running club. They are great fun and you will meet like minded people and you will find your running will improve significantly. I have found since I joined my club a year ago I get PB's in every race I do.
Sorry this is a bit more info than you asked for - you can choose to ignore it if you wish.
Good luck with the jogging!

I've jut mapped how far I did and it was 0.6 miles or 0.97 kms!
Thanks for that link birdwoman, it's so useful!! It means I can track a route before I do it so I know I'm not going to do something that's too long and get disheartened!
Will take an isotonic drink next time 4GS
Thanks everyone for all your help - feeling really motivated now!

I RAN A MILE!!!
Yay!! so impressed with myself. Did it on Saturday in just under 12 mins, then again on Sunday in just over 12 mins. Was going to go last night, but for some reason didn't think I'd get around so didn't want to try it.
Will do it again tomorrow night.
Thanks for all your support!!
