arthritis and the cold weather

why is my arthritis so very very painful in this bitterly cold and damp weather ? in the summer when the sun is shining it hardly bothers me so much ?

Research has shown no definite link, but there are indications that pressure changes in the atmosphere may affect the joints. Also that warmth can release muscle tension and ease pain. I loathe the damp weather and we live on the coast and it's always damp in the winter ...I love it when some hot weather rolls around .
