On the odd occasion when it does, I find that other noise going on helps to drown it out - music, tv. I feel really sorry for the people who find it a constant nuisance. I have 'white noise' all the time since I had my acoustic nerve cut during surgery.
I found this site. Might help.....

The correct name is Tinnitus. I know all about it. I took it very bad some years ago and I said to my friend it was that bad I nearly committed suicide. I am deaf and anybody knows that deaf people are tortured with it. It would put literally nuts. I do feel sorry for the people who endure it all the time. Thats right noise blocks it out. But at night-time you find it gets worse in the silence.
