my continuing sore nostril !!

hello, a while back i asked about my sore left nostril, which i was querying if it might be a cold sore, amongst the answers(some nonsence) it seems one can get such a thing , so i duely (not sure on the spelling !) treated it with acyclovere but after an innitial apparent partial sucess i am horrified to find that this thing has reacurred if indeed it ever went fully in fact. now i would like to know is this usual? does this seem like a cold sore at all, or could i be possibly dealing with something more sinister? if anyone can help please do as this seemingley mild problem is anything but. julia

Hello, I thought i had a some kind or recurring sore spot up my right nostril a year ago. It never really seemed to go. I got referred to ENT at the hospital and they told me I had a polyp in my nostril that would have to be removed. Apparantly this polyp was making my nasal wall sore. It also answered why I had been getting more snuffly and hubby said I was snoring a lot. I had the polyp removed in a simple operation and it was harmless. I've had no recurrence of the sore nose. Put a search in the net for Nasal Polyps and see if anything jumps out at you. Good Luck x

I have suffered with what looks like a cluster of spots up my nose twice now. I often get 1 or 2 spots up there anyway so the first time it happened I thought it was just that until my whole nose swelled up and was very painful. I went to the doctors after suffering for 3 days and was told it was a nasty infection and given 2 lots of antibiotics, tablet and a cream to put on. It has happened again recently and as I had some of the cream left I applied it again and it seems to be stopping it getting any worse. Its nice to hear someone else gets 'things' up their nose too I thought I was just weird!!

I too have been having a problem with my nose for the last week or two. It was both nostrils but one seems worse than the other. It feels like there is a cut in the nostril. All I can see though is a wee swollen white area on the wall of my septum. My nose is quite runny to. I've been to pharmacist and he advised me to apply some vaseline on the inside of my nose. Not sure it's helping though. I've got an appointment with my doc on Thursday. I feel daft bothering him over something so vague and small though it's really causing me discomfort!

to mizfiesta that problem thankfully has cleared up. it seemed to take ages but you know what seemed to cure it in the end ? VASOLINE!! so your pharmacist is right ,after all the preperations i shoved up my nose a simple substancelike vasoline seemed to do the trick. maybe it was healing anyway but hey its better and thats the main thing. good luck.julia
