Hi....my wife, aged 39 !!! suffered a minor stroke on saturday. She's been in hospital and was released today.

But they haven't really given her much in the way of info. The blockage occured in a blood vessell in the neck...despite not having any injuries or traumas to that area.

The neurologist has said that is was a minor stroke but still very very serious because of her age and where the stroke occured.

Does anyone have any idea where we can look to find any info

Thanks in advance

Hi Hammerman - I'm really sorry to hear about your wife's minor stroke. I do hope she improves soon, but in the meantime, this website may be of help to you:

It sounds as if she has had a TIA, hammerman. Lots of people of all ages have them and make a good recovery. They are usually a warning to take better care of yourself, so perhaps you could both look at her diet and lifestyle and make some changes.I remember a consultant telling me If you don't look after your body it will pay you back and how true that was.I wish you many more happy years together.

Thank you all so much.
Hi hammerman
Sorry to hear about your Wife.
She is young to have suffered that.
It is probably a narrowed artery in the neck which would cause the stroke.
No doubt she will be followed through and put on medication or they may even suggest an operation to open up the artery.
Depends how severe it was.
Wishing you all well and hope she is on the road to recovery.
Hi hammerman , I had a minor stroke some months ago and was considered young to have one , however it is not unusual to have one at any age . My paralasis and confused mind cleared and I am back to normal. I was under a neurologist who did tests and then found it was due to a cardiac problem , now I am under a cardiologist . As soon as the stroke occurred I was put onto tablets to thin the blood , which I presume your wife has been started on .I am still on them btw and not sure how long for.
I wish all the best for your wife and yourself :-) x
